Official Cooperation between Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC) and GeoThings

We are honored to be invited to attend Asian Conference on Disaster Reduction (ACDR) 2018 for a talk on “What and how the affordable ICT tools can help in strengthening the Disaster Resilience“, as well as the MOU signing ceremony between Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC) and GeoThings.

This MOU was signed by the Executive Director of ADRC, Koji Suzuki, and our Co-founder/COO of GeoThings, Venus Chen. It’s a great cooperation for ADRC to leverage ICT tools developed by GeoThings for town watching, field validation, and damage assessment in response to pre- and post-disaster.

For the national delegates and valuable participants, we also proudly presented how geoBingAn (究平安) was leveraged for town watching and national-level Tsunami drill in Fiji. The drill was performed right in the morning of presentation day, October 31st, and we are able to deliver the up-to-date statistic about the numbers of evacuated people in 7 major shelters. Compare to one-way radio communication, geoBingAn Web/App brings the in-time map based information coordination to multi-stakeholders. All the drill data including drill time, evacuation GPS trace, status report (with photos), and shelter status are all reflected on geoBingAn near real-time, and can be consolidated right after the drill. We look much forward to the further deployment to strengthen the community-based disaster resilience. Check our slides if you were interested, or simply give us an email for further details.
